The GOAT of fried chicken. The slogan speaks the truth, “if you haven’t eaten at Gus’s, you haven’t eaten fried chicken”. There are no truer words. Some of the most flavorful fried chicken with the perfect crisp. You can’t go wrong here. The green and beans just go so well with each bite of chicken. The sweet tea is another absolute banger here. Honestly the fried okra, I could live without. This is the fried chicken dreams are made of.
We were told by a Kiwi couple we had to go to Gus’s before we left Memphis, very glad we listened to them. Seated as soon as we walked in the door, drinks taken not much longer after. Waitress was super friendly and helpful with good advice. Wife ordered the 3 piece chicken tender meal with greens and slaw sides, I had the Memphis Special, it was great value for money. Chicken was super crispy and beautiful and juicy, exactly how it was described to us. Atmosphere was awesome, I’d say the interior hasn’t been touched in a long while, and very clean. Highly recommend a visit.
The staff at Gus’s was incredibly attentive and kind, they made the whole experience smooth and welcoming. Service was impressively fast, even though the place was busy. The chicken was absolutely delicious: crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The sides were just as good, comforting and flavorful. Definitely lives up to the hype!
Amazing must go and eat at eatery. Chicken is extra succulent and extra crispy- indescribably delicious. Fried green tomatoes - amazing. Everything is deep friend - but crispy- so go there for the crunch not the vegetarian options - although they serve cooked and delicious greens too!
Gus’s fried chicken is an absolute MUST if visiting Memphis. The staff were fantastic, so friendly! The chicken was AMAZING! Perfect cooked, juicy, and flavorful. We love finding good fried chicken and this is for sure now at the top of our list! We had the potato salad and fried okra as sides. Fried okra was the best I’ve ever had, perfectly seasoned and not overly breaded! The potato salad was good,make sure you like sweet relish though! 10/10 recommend and we will be checking out their other locations!!
The other reviews sounded good so we stopped by for dinner. The chicken was delicious. It’s a major tourist area so the prices reflect but 2 of us were stuffed full for about 35 including chicken drinks coleslaw fries and fried okra. Definitely recommend!
Phenomenal fried chicken. It was flavorful and juicy in every single bite and not greasy at all. It’s spicy, but not overly spicy. The okra and potato salad were equally good. The menu is simple but they know what they’re doing. It’s also fair priced for what you get and the quality of food.
This is the real deal when it comes to chicken and sides. I have been to Memphis twice and have made our way here again bc it is genuinely really good chicken. And the fried chicken spears are legit! Great little joint! And they have several in the Memphis area. Get your CLUCK on!
